Your perspective on your business’ website will impact its success and the results you see from it.
If you consider your website as an expense (meaning you expect no return and perhaps even see the site as unnecessary), it will reflect that belief. In this case you may not be willing to invest in a website that will attract your audience and convert targeted traffic into revenue. Your website will likely fail due to its poor design, lack of relevant content, and not being mobile-responsive.
A website can and should be an asset. Your website can deliver an excellent return on your investment when developed and designed properly, especially when you create a clear strategy for it.
When you view your website as an asset, you stand to gain:
- Instant Credibility: If you have a professional looking, mobile-responsive website, visitors will immediately assume you’re a legitimate business and can deliver the product or service they need.
- Higher Revenue: A website built to be both user-friendly and Google-friendly (SEO), means you’re more likely to be found in search results. The higher up on page one of Google, the more visitors and opportunities you’ll likely get. The more relevant website traffic you get, the more potential money you can earn from your website.
- Lower Marketing Costs: I know what you’re thinking. If you have to spend money on a website and its upkeep, how does that lower marketing costs? When you have a well designed website that is optimized for the proper keywords and you’re creating relevant content, you won’t need to spend as much money (or time) on pushing out paid advertisements. People will find you, rather than you trying to find them.
You don’t have to consider a website a necessary expense. It truly can and should be an asset that delivers you a consistent return on your investment.
Are you happy with how your website looks and performs? If not, perhaps you need to reconsider it as an asset, rather than an expense.
